Union County is getting a new middle school, and Merit Construction is proud to be the team building it. The new Horace Maynard Middle School in Maynardville is nearing completion alongside design partner Lewis Group Architects, with students expected to move in when school starts in August.
At 125,000 square feet, the facility is the largest school built in Union County since 1997. It replaces a building from 1950 and will serve around 600 students with capacity for at least 850. Beyond the size, students will find expanded STEM and CTE programs, on-site athletic fields, and safety improvements including a secure entrance vestibule and a redesigned drop-off and pickup layout.
