Big news for Knox County and for Merit Construction. The Knox County Board of Education voted unanimously to award Merit Construction a $43.7 million contract to build the new Farragut Area Elementary School at 202 Village Commons Boulevard.
The one-story building will span more than 144,000 square feet and is designed to serve between 1,200 and 1,400 K-5 students. The school will include three classroom wings along with a core area housing administration, a gym, media center, dining and kitchen facilities, and art and music classrooms. One wing has been specifically designed as a storm shelter.
The project is a partnership with Knoxville-based architectural firm McCarty Holsaple McCarty, known for designing the University of Tennessee's Student Union. The Farragut area has seen significant growth in recent years, and this school is a long-overdue investment in the community's future.
We are honored to be trusted with a project this meaningful. West Knox County is growing fast, and we are glad to be part of what comes next.
