Merit Construction, General Contractors, Construction Managers

Hardin Valley Academy (Knoxville, TN)

Representatives from Knox County Schools, Knox County Purchasing, the Public Building Authority, the Knoxville Community Development Corporation and the Knox County Mayor's office considered several proposals from construction management firms to build the newest high school in Knox County in over 20 years.  Merit Construction, Inc. was selected based on superior construction management experience as well as the most competitive fee and general conditions proposal.  The Hardin Valley Academy was completed in July 2008 and opened it's doors to students for the 2008-2009 school year.

Hardin Valley Academy features a two-story atrium and will have a capacity of 2,100 students in grades 9 through 12. It also will include a 695-seat auditorium, a 2,100-seat gymnasium, a media center and facilities for music, fine arts, and outdoor athletics.

The Hardin Valley Academy won the prestigious 2008 High School of the Year award as given by the Tennessee School Boards Association.

"Merit insisted on the highest quality of work while managing the cost as if it were their own money on the line.  The project was completed on time and under budget which was only possible through the hard work and dedication that the Merit team brought to the table."                                                                  ~Mr. Jeff Galyon                                                      Knox County Public Building Authority
